We are trained to assess, diagnose and provide therapy for your child who may be experiencing communication or swallowing difficulties. Our aim is to adapt and implement an individualised evidence-based plan, goals and therapy, creating the best outcome for your child’s development

Meet Our Speech Therapist

Shakila Ramathasan

Shakila is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist. She completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) at the University of Sydney and is a current certified practicing member with Speech Pathology Australia.

Shakila grew up in Melbourne and, after studying in Sydney, moved back home to Melbourne to continue her passion for working with children and their families. Shakila ensures that her therapy sessions are enjoyable and functional to help move skills to a child’s everyday life. She enjoys working with families, ensuring they are involved from assessment through to discharge.

Shakila works in a range of communication needs including speech, language, literacy, social skills, and stuttering. Shakila enjoys working with toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged children, and adolescents.

Shakila is committed to continuing lifelong learning to develop her skills. Shakila has a passion for working with children with developmental delays and/or disabilities. She has completed training and workshops for Assessment and Intervention of Autism Spectrum Disorder through ASPECT Australia.

She is proficient in Key Word Sign (KWS) and can speak Tamil.

Shakila has completed training sessions through DValert in family and domestic violence and paediatric feeding.

In addition to that, Shakila has professional development training in Hanen It Takes Two to Talk and Social Thinking – More Than Social Skills.

As a Certified Practising Member of Speech Pathology Australia, Shakila is committed to ongoing learning and always finding more ways to expand her knowledge and skills.
